Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive

For organizations whose files are spread across shared drives and an old intranet, and finding the current version takes too long.

We move the intranet and the shared drives into SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. First we settle who can create what, how sites are organized, how guests get in, and how long things are kept.

How we help

The Teams rollout sets the rules people work by, and the intranet and the shared drives then move into that structure in waves, with owners and permissions settled first.

Teams governance and rollout

Tenant settings decided in a design meeting, who can create what, guest access and retention, then a Teams pilot and rollout by department with training.

What you get

  • A design document with each decision and the reason
  • Teams policies, external and guest access, meeting settings
  • SharePoint and OneDrive sharing and retention settings
  • A pilot group with the rules tested on real work
  • Overview sessions and quick-reference guides
  • Tier 3 support and a procedures manual for your desk

Best for

Teams created by anyone, with no owner named, or a rollout that stalled at chat.

Intranet to SharePoint Online

Site collections inventoried with their owners, rebuilt as hub sites and modern pages, content moved with ShareGate, and old forms rebuilt on Power Platform.

What you get

  • Site inventory with owners, permissions, and URL strategy
  • Hub sites and navigation that match how people look for things
  • Content moved in waves, with redirects from the old addresses
  • Old forms and workflows rebuilt on Power Platform
  • Basic migration first, with customizations scoped separately

Best for

An intranet on SharePoint Server 2013, 2016, or 2019, now out of support, with pages long out of date.

Shared drives to OneDrive and SharePoint

Departmental shares mapped to Teams and SharePoint and personal shares to OneDrive, with the permission tangle reviewed before anything moves and the drives retired after.

What you get

  • Share-by-share mapping with owners and permission review
  • OneDrive sync and Known Folder Move through policy
  • Migration checklists and waves with a way back
  • Old file servers decommissioned

Best for

File servers nobody dares turn off.

Questions we get

Do we need a governance plan before we move anything?

Yes, and it is short. One design meeting settles who can create teams and sites, how guests get in, naming, and retention, and the document records each decision with its reason. Moving content first and deciding later is how the old intranet got that way.

What happens to our old SharePoint customizations?

The move is a basic migration first: content, permissions, and structure. Custom web parts, workflows, and forms are inventoried and rebuilt where they still earn their place, often on Power Platform, and scoped separately from the content move.

Will people lose their files or their links?

Not if the move runs as planned. Content moves in waves with a checklist and a way back, and redirects point old addresses at the new ones. Personal shares are copied into each person’s OneDrive with a migration tool, then Known Folder Move points Desktop and Documents at OneDrive, so nobody copies files by hand.

Can you move Teams and SharePoint between two tenants?

Yes, as part of a tenant-to-tenant migration, where sites and OneDrive move and Teams is rebuilt in the target. The details are on Exchange and Microsoft 365 Migration.

See Exchange and Microsoft 365 Migration

What drives the scope of an intranet or file move?

The number of sites, shares, and teams in scope, and how much content moves. How tangled the permissions are matters too, and whether the move stays within one tenant or crosses to another.

How long does an intranet move take?

It depends on the scope, and the move runs in waves rather than all at once. The Assess phase at the start typically takes 2–3 weeks.

Talk to us about Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive

It starts with a 60-minute call. If we need more to scope it, a short questionnaire follows. Then a written proposal and statement of work. Once you approve, we begin with the Assess phase.
