Azure and hybrid infrastructure consulting

Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure

For a data center lease or aging servers with a date on them, directories disconnected after an acquisition, or disaster recovery nobody has tested.

We give each workload its own answer on cost, risk, and dependencies, then move it to Azure in waves or manage it on-premises with Azure Arc. Disaster recovery is built in, with failover tested.

Two Azure screens stacked: Defender for Cloud environment settings listing the subscriptions under each management group, and the management group tree itself
An Azure landing zone, as builtThe management groups and subscriptions we laid out, with Defender for Cloud switched on across all of them, from the Azure as-built we delivered. A credit union in Texas. Tenant name replaced, subscription ids removed.

Questions we get

Do we have to move everything to Azure?

No. Azure Arc and Azure Local exist for workloads that belong on-premises. If you don’t yet know what should move, Cloud Strategy and Roadmap decides it workload by workload, on cost, risk, and dependencies, and sets the order.

See Cloud Strategy and Roadmap

What about our VMware or Nutanix investment?

We plan around it. Workloads that stay can keep their platform or move to another hypervisor, and the rest migrate to Azure in waves when the economics make sense.

See Hybrid Infrastructure

Is disaster recovery a project or a managed service?

Both, as two services. Disaster Recovery to Azure is the project: recovery objectives per application, a standby in Azure, and failover tested for each application. Managed Backup and Recovery, under Managed IT Services, is the running service after it, with backups checked daily, restores tested, and a recovery exercise each year.

See Disaster Recovery to Azure

Which service covers on-premises Exchange?

Two, depending on what moves. Moving mailboxes to Exchange Online is Exchange and Microsoft 365 Migration, under Workplace & Productivity. A server that stays because applications still relay mail through it is part of Hybrid Infrastructure, on Exchange Server Subscription Edition.
