40% lower infrastructure cost and 60% fewer IT incidents after a move to Azure
A global engineering nonprofit ran its systems from two aging data centers. Preeminent Solutions wrote the roadmap, moved the critical workloads from both data centers to Azure, and upgraded email and desktops along the way.

The challenge
The data centers in New York and New Jersey were expensive to run. Core applications sat on aging physical servers at a third-party host, and there was no single view of what was running and no warning before something failed.
Server operating systems were out of date, there was no dependable disaster recovery, and files lived on on-premises shares, which slowed people working together.
What we did
Assess:Assessment and roadmap
We assessed both data centers and the hosted servers, compared Azure with AWS, and wrote a three-year migration roadmap. Azure was chosen for security, compliance, and its fit with the Microsoft systems already in place.
Implement:Azure and hybrid
Business-critical applications moved to Azure, with disaster recovery through Azure Site Recovery.
Implement:Email and desktops
Email moved from Exchange 2010 to Microsoft 365 in a hybrid setup, with zero downtime. We upgraded the desktops and laptops (to Windows 10, at the time) and set them up through Autopilot.
Operate:Monitoring
System Center Operations Manager and Azure Monitor now show what is happening across on-premises and cloud systems as it happens.
“Preeminent Solutions transformed our IT infrastructure, enabling us to scale, secure, and modernize our operations. Their expertise and execution were outstanding, making them an invaluable partner.”
Results
Lower infrastructure cost
From moving the critical workloads out of the two aging data centers.
Fewer incidents
Problems are found before users report them.
Recovery in place
Failover and failback steps are written for the business-critical applications.
Files where people work
File shares moved to OneDrive and SharePoint Online with access controls.
