Azure Active Directory conditional access

Conditional Access is the tool used by Azure Active Directory to bring signals together, to make decisions, and enforce organizational policies.
Conditional Access policies at their simplest are if-then statements, if a user wants to access a resource, then they must complete an action. Example: A payroll manager wants to access the payroll application and is required to perform multi-factor authentication to access it.
By using Conditional Access policies, you can apply the right access controls when needed to keep your organization secure and stay out of your user’s way when not needed.

Microsoft Defender ATP integration

You can integrate Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (Microsoft Defender ATP) with Microsoft Intune as a Mobile Threat Defense solution. Integration can help you prevent security breaches and limit the impact of breaches within an organization. Microsoft Defender ATP works with devices that run Windows 10 or later, and with Android devices.

To be successful, you use the following configurations in concert:

Establish a service-to-service connection between Intune and Microsoft Defender ATP. This connection lets Microsoft Defender ATP collect data about machine risk from Windows 10, and Android devices you manage with Intune.
Use a device configuration profile to onboard devices with Microsoft Defender ATP. You onboard devices to configure them to communicate with Microsoft Defender ATP and to provide data that helps assess their risk level.
Use a device compliance policy to set the level of risk you want to allow. Risk levels are reported by Microsoft Defender ATP. Devices that exceed the allowed risk level are identified as non-compliant.
Use a conditional access policy to block users from accessing corporate resources from devices that are non-compliant.

Mobile Threat Defense

Intune can integrate data from a Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) vendor as an information source for device compliance policies and device Conditional Access rules. You can use this information to help protect corporate resources like Exchange and SharePoint, by blocking access from compromised mobile devices.

Intune can use this same data as a source for unenrolled devices using Intune app protection policies. As such, admins can use this information to help protect corporate data within a Microsoft Intune protected app and issue a block or selective wipe.

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Even complex passwords often aren’t enough to protect your data today. But multifactor authentication requires users to confirm multiple identifying pieces of information, such as entering a code from an automated call or message or even scanning biometric information like a fingerprint.
